Poetry
In Shangrila
Sunshine splashes
frozen streets
Diamond light on
crystal sleet
Tibetan girls
churn butter tea
Grumpy dogs
growl hungrily.
Smoke clouds curl
from cooking fires
Tinkling bells
on temple spires
Sky greets earth
and earth says “Hi!”
Cocks crow loud
as dawn trips by.
Cherub children
laugh and scream
Lazy kittens
purr and preen
Hawkers bellow
lamas pray
Songbirds warble
donkeys bray.
Hammers echo
down the lanes
Horses whinny
at their reins
Timeless rituals
spacious hearts
In Shangrila
a new day starts.
